Thanks for reaching out with your concerns Lisa. I recently found an antique cast iron waffle maker that was designed to work on a wood stove but it works great even on my home electric oven. It was even fairly well seasons when I found it! One drawback to older cast iron is the potential for the rough edges to scratch your counter tops or stove top surfaces so you do need to be a bit more careful as you move it around and flip it in the case of a waffle iron. If you look for a new cast iron without any coating on it, look for one that comes with a wax seal on it (like our crepe pan). This indicates that it is not coated with anything and you will need to remove the wax and season it yourself. Best of luck finding something that works for you!
