I don't want to sound like a duck, but I had an epiphany. I always toast my bread on griddle, using cake pan as a lid. I made a rectangular loaf with no effort to retain steam. But since the toasting process involved a sort of lid, the slices came out crispy all the way through anyway lol.

But that's just me, since all I want is just lean toasting bread high in dietary protein
