Hi Barbara! While a liner can aid with a clean release, it is not entirely necessary to use on your terra cotta brotform, especially if you are already able to get a clean release without the liner. I recommend dusting the brotform with semolina, cornmeal or white rice flour in order to ensure a clean release without a liner. Happy baking!
