I made these for a family dinner this weekend, and they were a big hit! I made them 48 hours in advance. And they were still delicious two days later. I froze the extra dough into dough balls, and now I have them to pop into the oven whenever we want a hot cookie. These were totally worth the extra steps (which were easy). Now I am going to go back and look up last year's coffee cake to make!
