I've accidently replaced the sugar in a cookie recipe with salt--they looked like the real deal, but were definitely NOT delicious. I'm not sure if that would affect the structure of the Construction Gingerbread recipe, but salt doughs are great for making lasting ornaments that look like baked goods.
