Yeast can have a bit of hard time rising in extremely sugary environments since the sugar tends to steal the water that the yeast needs to preform well. It should rise eventually though so have a bit of patience, Melanie. You'll also definitely have a different flavor and texture with that much of change in sugar content so be prepared to end up with something a bit different than what the recipe describes.
