Hi David! You can add salt and yeast to your doughs at the same time. With the amount of salt that is generally used in bread recipes, that low percentage amount will not be enough to kill or damage the yeast. Salt does help control the rate of fermentation, so you may find some recipes that incorporate the salt after the initial rise or rest of the dough (like our Extra Tangy Sourdough Bread). Unless stated in the recipe, it is A-OK to add the yeast and the salt at the same time. Happy Baking!
