Hello. I make pancakes for my grand-daughters using the Joy of Cooking recipe which doesn't vary much from the posted recipe. I increase the JoC recipe by an additional 50%.
I have a question about the griddle. It looks like it is a non-stick griddle. My daughter has both non-stick and steel fry pans but I find that pancakes are more successfully baked on steel. They crisp at the edges, which does not happen with a non-stick pan.
In one of the photos, the composition of the spatula used is difficult to determine. However, in the second of the photos, a thin steel spatula is used. Does that mean the grill is not a non-stick griddle or that it is some sort of hardened surface?
I have no experience with an electric griddle but my daughter's original stove, powered by gas, did not evenly heat the griddle area on the stove, which meant that the so little of the griddle could be used that it was a waste of time.
