Hi William, you can certainly use your banneton without a liner, but we don't recommend using the liner as a cover for your bread dough because it's too porous. Ideally you want a non-porous, tight-fitting cover that will keep the dough from becoming too cool or developing a skin. Learn more here: How to cover your bread dough the right way
