I am in love. With a machine.
My husband lobbied to get me this for my birthday. He pointed out that in the fist pandemic year I went through 125 pounds of flour and fed half the neighborhood, but that ‘Ol Bess, my kitchen aid mixer, was now 33 years old. I said the Ankarsrum was too expensive. He said I said the same thing about the kitchen aid, which we bought for $179. I said the Ankarsrum was too expensive. Back and forth. Finally I gave in.
I’ve used it four times now. It’s nothing short of amazing. The dough is perfect. The bread is incredibly light. The dough rises (in the bowl of the mixer!) in half the time of any other loaf I have made with ‘Ol Bess. This morning I started making a loaf of bread and rolls for sandwiches at 8:30 am. I pulled them all out of the oven at 10:30. They were gorgeous. The men rejoiced.
If you bake a lot, like I do, you owe it to yourself to get a first-class machine. Do it.
My husband was right. Don’t tell him!
