This is fabulous!! Reminded me of the apple cakes in France and Germany. Loved the almond flavoring. I followed the recipe, used about 3 1/2 apples for a 9 inch pan. Used one apple of 4 varieties--Granny Smith, Pink Lady, and 2 other varieties. Unfortunately my son did not like it since the almond flavoring and consistency of the cake reminded him of marzipan. I on the other hand loved it and ate half the cake and gave the other half to my daughter. My grandson loved it.
