I made Greek New Year's bread, (handwritten old recipe) it's like a sweet bread it has 8 cups of sugar, 4 strips of yeast, Butter, Crisco, 12 eggs and 4 teas Mahlep spice for flavor AND as much flour as it takes (?). I made the dough and let it rise overnight, it got great height, punched it down made them into round loafs put them in pans and let it rise again before baking and it puffed up really nice.
The flavor was great, but the (round) loaf was heavy. I don't know what I did wrong, my mom use to make this recipe and her bread was very airy and light.
