Hi Zoe, it should work fine to add a tablespoon or two extra malted milk powder to this recipe without reducing the sugar. The reason you may sometimes need to reduce the sugar is that the malted milk powder does contribute some sweetness to the baked good, but if the amount you're increasing is fairly small, I wouldn't worry about reducing the sugar.
