Dear Larry,
I have to wonder why it upsets you so that she wants to 'represent'.
I interpret that as you want her to behave "like normal folks" when the truth is: this is her 'normal'. Is that correct?
For so long, in public, women, people of color and queer + communities were visually underrepresented. I think that her goal is simply to be "visual" so that young people who are queer can see that this is a vocation to which they can aspire. That she too is part of what is 'normal', even if it is a minority and not a majority.
The beauty of a huge community like the Internet, is that you too can seek out Your normal and stick to recipes that are from only straight white men and never have to read anything else.
But what she is doing is harmless to no one and indeed very helpful to some.
I would like you to consider "being and allowing to be". No need to be judgmental of her truth eh? Just go on in peace to what you want to see and consider perhaps leaving the criticism of her truth and choices unspoken.
