I'm loving being part of a community here that wants to recycle and regenerate! Here is my little tip - yes, to storing plastic bags in the bottom of my pull-out freezer! I use small zip locks to freeze fruit that is as ripe as it needs to get --- bananas especially - peeled, sliced up, and then "stored" frozen in the freezer.... great for right into smoothies, and especially for when I am cooking oatmeal (we call that "banana porridge", as in "baby bear's!", and the baby loves to eat the frozen slices right out of the freezer. I finally realized I can just pop the bag back into the bottom of the freezer to refill and store there the next time the banana is as ripe as I want it to get. It's a great system! Saves time and clean up and we don't waste bananas or need to bake banana bread until we want to..... and even then can use those already frozen bananas there, too! I freeze prepared apple slices and grapes - the kids LOVE eating frozen grapes as an icy treat that they think is quite "special". I just toss the bag back into the bottom of the freezer, and pull it out to refill next time. Saves water and washing and trying to get those washed bags dry inside. And there is always sweet, prepped fruit available to pull out of the freezer and the bags.... well... they last forever! That's kind of the point, isn't it?????
