Of course I reuse parchment paper. Also plastic containers from sour cream, cottage cheese etc. for refrigerator storage. I mark them with an old fashioned 'grease pencil' (it washes off easily) and I use a non matching lid to distinguish from actual containers of sour cream etc. They are also convenient for picnic foods, no need to worry about bringing them home.
I recycle cardboard, paper, glass and metal. I keep a compost bucket on the kitchen counter for easy transport to the compost pile. So the actual trash amount is greatly reduced.
Plastic bags are washed and reused if possible. If not they are used to wrap anything that might smell bad in the trash.
All bones and veg scraps are frozen and turned into broth.
It sounds like a lot but it's all surprisingly simple and easy once it becomes your habit.
