I, too, cringe at the amount of plastic wrap I go through. And I’d love for someone to come up with an ECONOMICALLY viable alternative. But Amazon charges $15 for a 3 pack of Bees Wax. For that price I can buy 1000 sq ft or more of plastic wrap. Given the amount I use, not feasible. I do cover bowls with plates, etc. But I portion a lot of food, wrap in plastic wrap, and then in reusable freezer bags in the freezer.
