I really hate comments like "we've been doing this for years in my (home, country, etc.), who doesn't know how to do that?". To those people I say, have some compassion for others (and for yourself). Not everyone knows how to bake. Speaking for myself, I don't have a friend or family member who can teach me how to bake. When the pandemic lock-down happened, I came to King Arthur's website and learned how to bake. While my baking techniques still need improvement, I do love what comes out of my oven. And, for anyone that needs a visual on the technique, Jeffrey Hammelman demonstrated the flour wash in Episode 1: French Bread and Biscuits (of the [Isolation Baking Show] located in the Learn / Video section of the King Arthur website).
