I have both osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. I use machines to knead my bread and mix my pie dough. I find that some days when I planned to make rolls, my hands might not be up to the task of shaping - so the dough becomes a loaf of bread instead. Likewise, a pie may become a gallete. I find that heat improves mobility while cold reduces pain. Soaking in hit water before baking - like doing the dishes -really helps. An icepack while the dough is rising helps control the pain and swelling.
