This is my third attempt at making my own sourdough starter. In my first attempt, I used a mixture of half whole wheat/half all purpose flour blend. By the third day I had not seen any activity so I decided to start over. The second time I started using whole wheat flour for the first feeding then switched to bread flour on day two. After 24 hours, the mixture had bubbled over the top of my one pint container, so for the day three feeding, I switched to a larger container. After 12 hours I saw a few bubbles but fed it again and placed it back into the pint container. After 12 hours there was no activity so I decided to start over. I’ve been watching many YouTube videos and reading many blogs and maybe I have given up too soon. I started my third attempt using whole wheat flour first and then bread flour and before each feeding, there has been no rise visible, however, there has been a few bubbles. Right now I am on day 5 and for the past two days I have been feeding twice a day. My ratio has been 1/4 cup starter, 60 grams of water and 60 grams of flour. I don’t want to give up but it is frustrating when everyone says how easy it is to create your own starter. Any advise would be welcome. Thank you.
