Hi Sue, yes, you can proceed with feeding your starter as you normally do, although if it's been in the refrigerator for an extended time it may take 2-3 days of twice a day feedings to restore it back to its normal activity level and aroma. If your starter continues to feel thicker than normal, it won't hurt to drizzle in a bit more water to bring it to the normal consistency right after a feeding. For our starter routine the starter should be pasty, but still easy to stir after you add the flour and water.
