Hi Grammar Police Officer, we hear your objection to our word choice, and you certainly aren't alone! As bakers we tend to consider that all baked goods are baked. If you look at it this way a cake is a cake is a cake. In other words, a pancake is just a cake that is baked in a pan on the stove or on a griddle; how the heat is applied doesn't change the fundamental process of baking.
