I have an older oven with the broiler separately on the bottom of the stove, so no broiler for me.
But, I did figure out a way to get a little more heat into my oven. I put the oven at 500 and then I put a cast iron griddle on the stovetop and heat it on high as well. Then I carefully transfer that to the lower shelf and put my pizza on the ceramic stone that lives in the oven. I've never tested to see how much more heat I'm getting, but I know I'm getting a few degrees.
