Just a heads up for anyone excited about this lovely post and rushing out to try pandan. I'm Asian American but not raised with these flavors.

I've tried pandan a few times (fresh milkshake in the Pacific Islands, beautiful chiffon cake with coconut custard and gold flake decor in San Francisco)... It has a strong odor you might not be expecting (not sure how to describe except pasty), and the "rose" part of the flavor is strong (think flowery). I recommend trying pandan, just be prepared
