Hi Roman, I reached out to PJ and this is her reply: "Roman, the type of cake doughnuts that do well in a regular oven are the ones that are basically just doughnut-shaped cakes, made with cake batter and baked in a doughnut pan. I suspect rolling and cutting a batch of the typical, thicker cake doughnut dough, on the other hand, and baking the resulting doughnuts in your oven would yield much the same result as the air fryer: not nearly as nice as a deep-fried cake doughnuts. But please do share your results if you try baking cake doughnut dough in your air fryer at a lower temperature; it's an interesting thought."
