Wonderful tips! I definitely upped my biscuit game when I switched to KAF AP Flour. Also, I've found that shredding frozen butter in a cheese grater works best for me. I look forward to trying tips #5 and #6 next time, as well as searching for better buttermilk.

One thing that I've adopted is cutting rectangular biscuits. They bake up just as well, and you can avoid the pesky scrap throwaways!
