I just made a non dairy birthday cake, substituting butter with Earth balance buttery sticks. Although the cake turned out fine with the addition of homemade vanilla, I was very unhappy with the flavor of the frosting. I think if you were perhaps add some lemon, the flavor of the buttery sticks would not be so strong. I did not find the flavor neutral as the tester did.
