Gentrification is occurring around the globe and the heritage of who people are, what made them who they are and how the world is not divided by walls but by the minds of some people that are feeling insecure. Gentrifaction of complete neighborhoods, boroughs, and cities removes who people are and what they came from, I personally find this to be very sad. The ONE thing that has always brought people, cultures, traditions, celebrations together has always been food and music. It is important to understand regions in the world, culture from different ethnicities of people and how and why they lived as they did off the lands they come from. We should be able to share our stories, our foods and our souls of what intertwines us, and the different cultures, as you know that relationships occur between people of much diversity from around the world. It is in learning and understanding about others that we can enrich our own lives and celebrate the diversity, and so are better able to understand it, and so we are not feeling threatened by the differences. I, for one, am always eager to hear someone's stories about their culture and foods as an Italian, with all of my grandparents immigrating here to America from different parts of Italy and bringing wonderful recipes from the different regions of Italy that they came from.
