I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time! I’ve had my share of failures as well. Like the time I couldn’t get my triple chocolate cheesecake off of the springform pan bottom . I neglected to use parchment paper, so I thought a nice sharp knife and some elbow grease would do the trick. It certainly did. So well, in fact, that I watched it sail off the pan bottom, slide across the counter, into a perfect swan dive directly to the floor! I stood there for a few seconds, trying to figure out if I should laugh or cry! I gathered my wits about me and since the cake landed on its side, I was able to salvage about 1/2 of it to eat. No sense in throwing it away; couldn’t take it to the church bake sale, but my family sure enjoyed it!
Then there was my flourless chocolate cake. It had cooled in the pan for 30 minutes after baking. As directed, I covered the cake pan with a wire rack and inverted it, to remove the pan and parchment to let the cake cool completely. Only problem was, the middle of the cake wasn’t done and oozed right through the wire rack onto the counter below! Never figured out what I did wrong but the outer ring of the cake tasted great, according to my sweet, gluten-sensitive husband!
Have also had the Bundt cake issue with the top 1/3 stuck in the pan; frosting goes a long way in hiding the problem. Or as some have said, a trifle dessert is a good alternative!
Thanks for all the funny stories; made my day!!
