My "best" one is the chocolate cake with fudgy frosting that I made for my husband's birthday - first time in "new to us" house and oven. The cake layers tested as fully baked, but I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait till they had cooled even a little. I turned them out of the pans and they began to crack in the middle. I put the frosting on them to try to hold them together - was I thinking the frosting was superglue? No idea! At this point, I decided to wait a few minutes and see if the frosting would thicken and hold the layers together. I went into the family room to watch a few minutes of tv. When I returned to the kitchen, the cake had split apart and was off the cake plate, oozing onto the counter and doing a great imitation of "the Blob" trying to hit the floor! My shriek brought my husband running! We scooped it into bowls and ate his cake-blob as though it was pudding. The cake was great but presentation was a minus 100.
