I am wanting to make the Fatayer with chicken and potatoes, however, I have several questions I am hoping you can help me with.
In regards to baking or cooking, nothing irritates me more than when I want to make a dinner dish or dessert and I can't find the traditional / "authentic" herbs, spices, and other ingredients that are needed---and there are "substitutions" listed if you don't have the "real" ingredients on hand.
I like to make the "authentic & traditional" versions.
Below are my questions. Additionally, I welcome any advice/assistance from you. Thank you in advance for your time and response.
1. What type of curry is used for the Chicken and Potato Fatayer?
What types of curry are there?
And how do I know what curry and what brand to get? I don't know one curry from another or what
curry goes with what.
I have only seen a couple of curry products (in the International section) in some stores.
2. Where might I find the spices, herb, oils, and other seasonings commonly used in the Middle East cooking,
baking, grilling, etc..?
I haven't found any in the area I live in, which is North Carolina.
3. If the spices can be found the Internet grocery sites - would they still flavorful and not stale?
4. Do you have a grocer or spice shop you order from?
5. If so, is there a particular store either online or in the community that you prefer and actually order from that you'd be
willing to share with me?
