Thank you for this post with some interesting history of a delicious treat. We always had it with walnuts & raisins, calling it either simply "Dios" or "Nut Roll," & looking forward to it on Easter & Christmas. Unfortunately, my family didn't have written recipes (quantities were all "some" or "enough") so, despite years of watching my Hungarian father & grandmother make this as a child, I can't make it myself! Looking forward to trying your recipe!
