I am Hungarian from both sides. My mom's beigli contained no yeast, but had a dough made with flour, butter, baking powder, sour cream, vanilla sugar ( we had sugar flavored and scented by vanilla bean ), and regular sugar. The walnut and poppyseed fillings were sweetened with sugar, had golden raisins, and lemon zest. It was heaven.
