I make this bread with a half cup of diced craisins and pecans added to the dough. It is a family favorite and always works. I also sprinkle sesame seeds in the buttered pan for a nutty crust. I have also made this using a cup of buckwheat hydrated with a cup of boiling water and reducing the flour and water proportionately
