Tried to make this bread yesterday and today. Thought I followed the directions but it didn't work out as P. J.'s did. Had what looked like more batter than what would fit my larger pan than her 4 x 4's so I split it between two pans. Did not rise as much as thought it should. Baked it at 425 for 45 min. like the recipe said but it was quite crusty and hard. Not burnt but getting there. Seems like the "batter" wasn't very battery. More the consistency of biscuit dough. At any rate, I'm lost now. My thought is it needed more water. IDK. My starter seemed to be active though.
