We're glad to hear that you enjoyed our 2021 recipe of the year, Laura! The flour in the filling helps to thicken it a bit and prevents it from leaking out of the rolls. You're welcome to use a gooier filling if you'd like! Just keep in mind that it might leak out a bit more so you'll definitely want to bake the rolls on a rimmed sheet pan. Happy baking!
