What a wonderful idea! I have my grandmother's fruitcake recipe that my mother also used for a few years. My grandmother's was dense, moist and full of nuts and fruits. She baked them at Thanksgiving and the "watered" them on a weekly basis as they aged for Christmas gift giving. Packed in our lunchbox, it made my oldest brother rather sleepy at school after lunch! I love this strategy of making this into bars. Fruitcake can be a wonderful treat!
