Having the same issue re: ribbon stage and guess I will toss & consider the eggs, sugar & "best vanilla" a waste. My egg/sugar/vanilla mixture failed to get to the ribbon stage at 12 minutes time. Don't want to waste "more" ingredients on top of the others. What a HUGE waste of prized Neilsen-Massey Madagascar vanilla - a full TBSP, that I could have used in good cookies. So mad at myself for trying the birthday cake recipe, or started to. Should have known better but thought perhaps KA recipe was the ticket. Wrong. My eggs were definitely room temperature too, don't waste your time - going back to a boxed cake mix, this surely didn't work.
