We're glad you're excited to give this recipe a go, Laura! We wouldn't recommend flour and greasing the bowl because, as you mentioned, that can create a bit of a mess. You can try flouring the bowl well or you can grease it as PJ does here and then before scoring the loaf, just lightly dust it with flour to create the look you're going for.
