Hi, Laura - I've taught all types of sewing but do just enough quilting to be dangerous :-), but I'll bet you could enlarge the photo and convert it to a pattern on graph paper, then cut apart and add 1/4" seams. Or maybe even easier, use the paper-piecing method. That design really caught my eye, too!
