Hi, Sally! While there's not a super reliable dupe for actual bread dough, you may find that practicing your scoring on rolls instead of full-sized loaves would do the trick! That way you get to practice 12 times per batch, instead of just one or two. Plus, rolls are very easy to freeze or give away.
