What a lovely, inspiring, and uplifting article! Baking is very much a cathartic and contemplative endeavour for me, and there is something soul-healing in the act of using ingredients and one's hands to create that which did not exist (at least in that form) before. Sourdough bread is my go-to bake--well, every week--but also whenever I find myself in need of a mini-retreat. There is something in the precision of baking and the rhythm of kneading that appeals to my autistic brain and feeds my soul at the same time.
