You could definitely experiment with that, Erin! Grinding it more finely or sifting out some of the bran is definitely an option. Sometimes it can also help to give your dough a rest period of about 20 minutes after you've combined the ingredients, just so the flour (especially the bran) can hydrate and soften up a bit.
