Good question, Ann! If yours has a metal knob on the lid, it should be fine to bake in. If yours comes with a black knob, then this knob is not rated to the highest temperatures and should be removed before attempting to bake in your Le Creuset Dutch oven. You can order replacement knobs directly from Le Creuset if you'd like to swap yours out for a safe-to-bake model; it's much less pricey than purchasing a new Dutch oven!
