By far the easiest and best tasting crumpet I've ever made. Being the frugal baker with limited storage, I use a 7-8" length of foil folded in halves until it is 1 1/2-2" strip, stapled the edges to form a circle and viola, crumpet rings! I wash and dry them just like the "real" ones. They store flat when not in use and they work. My family prefers crumpets over English muffins and I use crumpets in the same recipes, like Eggs Benedict. We also use crumpets in place of bread for lighter, smaller sandwiches. Crumpets are the easiest way to use my discard each time--4-5 crumpets rarely lasts 24 hours! Thanks for this tasty recipe.
