Hi Kathy! We wouldn't recommend trying to replace the mashed potatoes with potato flour or dried flakes but you could prepare the potato flakes for mashed potatoes (leaving out the seasoning) and use the mashed potatoes in this recipe. We hope this helps and happy baking!
