Tricia, I tested both granulated white sugar and superfine sugar. Both worked just fine for toasting, though the superfine sugar tended to clump a bit more readily, so I had to process it in a food processor after toasting. (You can also grate any hard chunks on a cheese grater and bring it back to a powdered form.) Good luck!
