We're glad you gave it a try, Amanda. The good news is that your first sugar-toasting experience is usually the most challenging. Once you figure out what works well for you (and what doesn't), it's much easier the second time around. It sounds like you might want to turn the temperature of your oven down by 25 degrees to allow the sugar to heat more slowly and preventing melting/clumping. And just think: now you have 9+ cups of sugar to make many recipes with. Enjoy!
