This is fascinating and just in time for Christmas baking! I have a recipe for pinwheel cookies that I have been trying to get to taste more like my old favorite Maurice Lenell Pinwheels. I feel the vanilla part of the pinwheel lacks flavor. I upped the vanilla, which helped some, but maybe the toasted sugar would finally get me where I want to go.
