Everything went well until the point when I put the "fairly deep slits" in my loaves. Then they collapsed and never rose again, despite giving the dough more rising time even in a warm oven. After 1/2 hour I put them into the other oven preheated to 425, and still no rise. Now I have two, hard, dense loaves which are inedible. Disappointing.
